Josh Wood is the Watchdog/News Reporter at The Courier Journal in Louisville, Kentucky.

 

Between 2009 and 2017, he spent a total of seven years overseas while based in Beirut, Lebanon, where he wrote about conflict, refugees and US policy in the Middle East.

 

Returning to the United States in 2017, he spent two years in Boston, Massachusetts, where his work focused on the 2020 election, the legalization of marijuana, incarceration, the environment and immigration.

 

Since moving to Kentucky in 2019, the bulk of his work has focused on the racial justice movement and policing.

 

Josh has been a staff reporter for the Associated Press and The National. As a freelancer, his work has appeared in The Washington Post, The Guardian, The International Herald Tribune, The New York Times, Louisville Magazine, Al Jazeera America, Public Radio International, HuffPost, the Middle East edition of Esquire and a number of other publications. 

 

In 2021 he won the City and Regional Magazine Association’s award for best profile (under 60,000 circulation) for his Louisville Magazine story Who Is Vyncex?

 

Raised between Saudi Arabia and New England, Josh holds a degree in Middle Eastern Studies from George Washington University's Elliott School of International Affairs.
